Geoffroi de Charney

from £19.00

Geoffroi de Charney was a French nobleman and seasoned warrior who rose to become Preceptor of Normandy in the Order of the Knights Templar. Fiercely loyal to his brothers and to the Order’s vows, he stood defiant when the Templars were accused of heresy and hunted down by King Philip IV. Alongside Grand Master Jacques de Molay, de Charney refused to betray the Templar cause, even under torture. In 1314, he was burned at the stake in Paris, meeting death with the courage of a true knight. His name later became wrapped in legend, whispered in connection with relics like the Shroud of Turin, adding to the enduring mystery of the Templars.
